2.  Add a deadline

Everyone seems to work better when they have a deadline. Ever noticed how the day before vacation you’re so productive, you get everything done this on your list. It’s not that you’re going on vacation, it’s that you have a set deadline in which things need to be accomplished. In your advertising you need a deadline, this prompts people to act now. A deadline shows that a promotion is going away if you don’t act now. Marketing statistics show that many times coupons are redeemed very close or even on the expiration date. Therefore make sure you have a deadline on all your advertising.

3. Use a compelling headline

Many small businesses make the mistake of not having a headline on their advertisement. Notice I said headline and not a title, a title is simply something at the top of the page. Whereas a headline is good attention grabbing statement. Let me quickly explain what a headline is not: your business name is not a headline, your logo and tagline are not headline, your business hours are not headline. Yet many small businesses start their advertisement with their business name at the top, it is more important to have an interesting statement or benefit heavy statement to attract the customers attention. Trust me, if the headline captures their attention they will search the advertisement to find out who made such bold statements.

4. Change the widget

In your  small business advertising it is important to sometimes “change the widget”. This is done in two ways either you will change the nature of the offer, for instance, first you advertised the 2 for 20 deal, now if your advertising the new menu item. By doing this you have changed the widget. People do not get tired of receiving offers, people will however get tired of receiving the same offer, the same way. Therefore by changing the widget you can change the structure of the offer, the description of the offer, or the context of the offer. By changing the widget your customers are still engaged in the advertising process and more likely to read your advertisement, without being fatigued. 5. Take a picture

adding a picture to your small business advertising is a great way to add interest. Most have heard the saying,” a picture is worth 1000 words”. Therefore in your advertising you should use a picture when possible. Here are a few tips when using the picture, pictures should be interesting, the pictures should be descriptive of the offer, or the pictures should describe the effects of the offer.
